A love of old world metal working and a passion for teaching is what started Fire Iron Forge. David has been working with metal since he was young, but It wasn’t until his late 20’s that he got serious about forging. In 2016 he had his first student – a friend from church, and from there, things continued to grow. We moved to Northern Idaho in 2019 and quickly got connected to the local blacksmithing community. The shop at Gizmo CdA on North Idaho College campus in Coeur d’Alene, ID is perfectly setup for giving people an unforgettable experience of learning the trade of blacksmithing.
The blacksmithing community in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington has been very generous and we’d like to continue that tradition. We do that by networking with other blacksmiths and local shops. We promote their business, goods and services whenever possible. No one can do it all, so when a local smith or shop can better fill a niche – we pay it forward by supporting one another and strengthen the blacksmith community.
The things that really set Fire Iron Forge apart is our passion for educating the younger generations along side the older, helping other local blacksmiths, offering competitions and teaching ABANA’s national curriculum. We have a heart for helping anyone who would like to learn blacksmithing.
